Overseas' Firm Dupes 185 Job Aspirants From DK

Of the approximate 300 victims of an overseas recruitment scam, 185 are from Dakshina Kannada.

Sheikh Mohammad Altaf, a victim of the scam by Hire Glow Elegant Overseas India Pvt. Ltd., an unauthorised firm in Mangaluru, told reporters that he quit his job abroad with 12 years of experience, expecting a well-paid job in New Zealand.

"I was working as a mechanic abroad when I came across a job advertisement by Hire Glow and applied for it. I felt it was a genuine firm as its three women staff were locals and there was nothing suspicious about it. I not only lost my previous job, but also the money paid to this unauthorised firm," he said.
