No ABC centres, shelters for strays in Malappuram district

Even as incidents of stray dog attacks rise, Animal Birth Control (ABC) activities in Malappuram district remain stagnant. Malappuram is also the only district in the state that has not established an Animal Birth Control system or initiated efforts to do so. As many as 13 cases of rabies in animals were reported in the district last year. The main challenge is that it has not yet been possible to find the land required to set up an ABC centre.
