Kannur woman dies by suicide over 'moral policing'; 3 youths arrested

The youngsters were detained based on a suicide note by Raseena & police investigation

POLICE on Tuesday arrested three persons, all of them SDPI activists, in connection with a suspected episode of moral policing, which led to the death of a woman in Parambai, in Vengad grama panchayat of Kannur district.

Raseena K, 40, died by suicide on June 17, after the incident, two days earlier, reportedly left her emotionally traumatized.

Rafnas C K, 24, Mubashir VP, 28, and Faisal K A, all residents of Parambai, were detained based on a suicide note and the findings of a police investigation. Rafnas was related to Raseena. Authorities confirmed that the three have been remanded in judicial custody.
