Cop Suspended Over Mishandling of Domestic Violence Complaint

Victim's kin accuse SI of neglecting complaint filed in Feb despite clear signs of violence

Thamarassery police station Grade SI Noushad has been suspended pending investigation following allegations that he failed to properly handle a domestic violence complaint filed by Shibila, who was later murdered by her husband, Yasir Thatrolmattathu, 26, in Kakkad, Engapuzha.

Her family had earlier accused Noushad of neglecting the complaint filed in February. Kozhikode Rural SP K E Baiju, who visited the Thamarassery police station on Saturday, reviewed the case details and issued Noushad's suspension order after identifying lapses in handling the complaint. Noushad was the station PRO when Shibila approached him with the complaint.
