Petroleum exports to US remain unaffected due to tariff exemptions
The New Indian Express Kannur
|August 02, 2025
The country's exports of petroleum products, including diesel, jet fuel, and other refined fuels are expected to continue uninterrupted after the US excluded such items from the scope of a new 25% reciprocal tariff announced by President Donald Trump.
As per an executive order signed by Trump on Friday, certain energy-related commodities such as crude oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG), refined petroleum products, electricity, and coal have been exempted from the new tariff regime. The order also does not impose any penalties specifically targeting trade involving Russian-origin energy products.
