THE Kannur Corporation has come under fire amid allegations of corruption and mismanagement, with development standing committee chairperson Ragesh P K raising charges against the ruling council, including backseat governance and negligence.
Speaking to TNIE, Ragesh highlighted serious issues surrounding the Payyambalam gas crematorium and levelled allegations against health standing committee chairperson M P Rajesh.
"The Payyambalam gas crematorium was constructed in 2018 with a budget of Rs 1.25 lakh. Although the current council completed the work and inaugurated it in 2021, they refused to pay the minimal yearly maintenance fee demanded by the construction company," Ragesh stated.
