KPCC spokesperson says despite 2,000 people gathering at the site, security forces failed to detect the threat

STRONGLY condemning the recent massacre of tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, Congress leaders have termed the incident a result of the Union government's failure in intelligence and a serious lapse in security.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, KPCC spokesperson S M Patil Ganihar said the attack was a preplanned assault on innocent tourists who had travelled from across the country. "Over 2,000 people had gathered at the site, yet the security forces failed to detect the threat. This points to lapses in both intelligence and security," he said.

Ganihar added that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and several others have condemned the attack. "The Congress stands firmly with the government in taking stringent action against such terror activities originating from Pakistan," he said.
