Prof. Shashikant S Udikeri has taken charge as regular vice-chancellor of Gulbarga University here on Tuesday. Outgoing acting Vice-Chancellor of Gulbarga University Prof. Abdul Rub Ustad handed over the charge of Vice-Chancellor's post to Prof. Shashikant Udikeri.

The post of Vice-Chancellor fell vacant after Prof. Dayanand Agsar retired on January 22 this year. After the retirement of Prof. Agsar, Prof. Goouru Sriramalu, Prof. Hoovinamani Babanna and Prof. Abdul Rub Ustad worked as the acting vice-chancellor of Gulbarga University till September 8. Previously, Prof. Shashikant has served as Professor at University of Agriculture Sciences, Dharwad.

Replying to felicitation given by the employees after assuming the charge of Vice-Chancellor, Udikeri said that Kalyana Karnataka region is a land of special culture. The people here have a special quality and nature of respecting and including everyone. Prof. Shashikant further said that he has also worked in Aland Krishi Vidyalaya, Raichur, Vijayapur and Dharwad.

The new VC of Gulbarga University said that as there is a saying that actions are more important than words, our priority should be the same. "In this regard, we should all work together for the progress of the university. It is natural that there are problems, our work and responsibility should be towards a development process that goes beyond them. Therefore, with the cooperation, loyalty and encouragement of all the staff, the achievements of the university can be seen at a high level," he said.
