Ex-MLC Amarnath to Somanna: Merge Wadi-Kalaburagi rail section with SCR

FORMER chairman of Hyderabad Karnataka Area Development Board (now Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board) Amarnath Patil, who is also a former MLC, has asked Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna to merge the entire Wadi-Kalaburagi-Tajsultanpur/Bablad sections of 35 to 45 kms with South Central Railways.

Amarnath Patil handed over a memorandum to Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna during his visit to Kalaburagi on Sunday. The memorandum states that the entire region—districts of Bidar, Yadgir, and Raichur—are currently served by South Central Railway, and Kalaburagi comes under Central Railway.

Also, there are rumors that Central Railway and South Central Railway are trying to exchange a few sections, and South Central Railway has demanded the handover of Wadi Junction to South Central Railway. Amarnath said in the memorandum that it would be better to merge the entire Wadi-Kalaburagi-Tajsultanpur/Bablad section of 35 to 45 kms with South Central Railways.
