ABVP Activists Demand Scholarships, Hostel Upgrades

Girl activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) took out a procession and staged a demonstration in front of Mini Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday demanding immediate release of scholarship and to repair infrastructure facilities in the hostels.

In a memorandum to the government sent through the office of Kalaburagi Deputy Commissioner, the activists said that 1,68,833 students are residing in 1,258 hostels run by backward class development department, 1,87,200 students are residing in 1,972 hostels run by social welfare departments. But as per the reports with the ABVP, an average of 40 to 50 percent of the students who apply for accommodation in the hostels were getting the facility and remaining students will be deprived of in the last 3 year
