Rayagada Couple Subjected to 'Punishment' Return to Village

AROUND 11 days after being driven out of their homes and subjected to inhumane 'punishment' for marrying against community traditions, the tribal couple of Rayagada district was brought back to their native Kanjamajodi village in Kalyansinghpur on Saturday.
The incident took place on July 2 and came to light last Friday after a video of the couple went viral on social media. The clip showed 32-year-old Kodia Saraka and his wife being forced to plough a field with a yoke on their shoulders as a measure of 'purification'.
