Special Court Rules in Favour of Anand Singh in Illegal Mining Case

In a major ruling, the Special Court for Legislators acquitted former Minister and BJP leader Anand Singh of charges related to illegal mining, iron ore transportation, and export.

The verdict was delivered by Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat on March 7, who concluded that the allegations against Singh were not proven.

The case was based on a complaint filed by the Lokayukta police. In his ruling, Judge Bhat also granted relief to Goa's current Tourism Minister Rohan Khaundekar, along with other partners of the SB Minerals company, including B.S. Gopal Singh, B.S. Pandurang Singh, Messrs Naivedya Logistics, Rajesh Ashok Khaundekar, and others, all of whom were acquitted by the court. The court pointed out that the Lokayukta police had failed to prove the charges against Anand Singh beyond doubt.
