Protests on draft rules grow, UGC extends its deadline for feedback

AMIDST political slugfest over the revised UGC draft regulations on the appointment of faculty and academic staff in universities and colleges, the University Grants Commission (UGC) on Thursday extended the deadline for public feedback on them to February 28.
A day after six non-BJP ruled states sought immediate withdrawal of the draft, INDIA-bloc parties escalated the issue, as the DMK organised a protest in the national capital.
