DC Seeks Report on Renovation of Hangal's Home

The district administration has asked the Kannada and Culture Department to submit a report on the development of noted classical singer Gangubai Hangal's house in Dharwad.

The administration is seeking a large piece of land adjacent to Hangal's house to expand and build a museum dedicated to the legendary Hindustani music vocalist.

Since the last decade, the late Gangubai Hangal's house has been in a dire condition. The house, which was to be converted into a museum and an institute for budding singers. Recently, Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu, along with experts, paid a visit to the house and took stock of the condition besides meeting surrounding residents.
