Cong Wakes Up After 6 Months To Buy Rice From Centre: Joshi

UNION Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, and New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi has stated that the Congress government in the state has finally had a realisation on purchasing additional rice from the Centre.
Speaking to the media here on Thursday, he said that although the Congress government was late in distributing 10 kg of subsidised rice, they have now woken up to the issue.
The state government had been giving Rs 34 instead of providing the 5 kg rice from its share. Even though the Centre had informed them six months ago that additional rice could be provided at a lower price, the state did not proceed with the purchase, the Union minister claimed.
