Says Siddu politicising the issue to cover up failures of his govt

BJP MP and former CM Basavaraj Bommai has accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of politicising the issue of delimitation of parliamentary constituencies and charged that to cover up the shortcomings and failure of his government, he is targeting the Union government.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, Bommai said, Siddaramaiah's politicisation of the matter was not only unfortunate but also detrimental to the interests of the state. Further lashing out at the CM, Bommai said that Siddaramaiah's repeated attempts to shift blame to others were a reflection of his failure to deliver as chief minister.

The BJP leader pointed out that Karnataka is teetering on the edge of a financial crisis, with little to no development work being carried out. The funds reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were being misused and corruption has become rampant across the state, he alleged.

Bommai noted that the process of constituency delimitation cannot happen overnight. He explained that it requires a two-thirds majority in the Parliament and a constitutionally mandated committee handles it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already assured the nation in the Parliament that no state will be unfairly treated.
