DMK backs Rahul, says BJP-led union govt may tamper with TN poll rolls

THE DMK on Friday urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to scrap the "unfair" Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar and expressed concern that the BJP-led union government may conspire to include lakhs of people from other states in Tamil Nadu's electoral roll.

In a statement, DMK general secretary and Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan said that, with the Tamil Nadu Assembly election due next year, there is a threat of voters being disenfranchised en masse through a similar exercise in the state. "This could undermine the political rights of Tamil Nadu," he said.
