Amid shift in India's arms orders, Russia remains top supplier: Report

RUSSIA remains the biggest supplier of equipment and weapon systems for the Indian armed forces, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
The highest pending supplies of Russia in percentage terms are also for India, the 2025 SIPRI report says.
Overall, India continues to remain one of the biggest arms importers of the world. SIPRI identified 162 states as importers of major arms in 2020-24. The top five importers in 2020—Ukraine, India, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan—received 35% of global arms.
