POST-monsoon rains lashing Uttarakhand's Chamoli district have led to a significant rise in the Alaknanda and Pindar rivers at Karnaprayag, causing widespread waterlogging and disruption.

- NARENDRA SETHI @ Dehradun

The Namami Gange crematorium, waiting halls, and toilets near the river confluence have been inundated, and the base of a mini sewage plant has also been submerged.

Police and district administration teams are closely monitoring the situation. They have issued repeated alerts to residents living near riverbanks and have urged families in landslideprone areas to relocate to safer ground. Authorities are actively engaged in evacuating those at risk to prevent any loss of life.
