Over 102 MLD Water Drawn From Siruvani Dam for Kovai

In a bid to prevent the premature release of surplus water from Siruvani Dam into the river by the Kerala Water Resources and irrigation department officials, the TWAD Board officials have started drawing over 102 MLD of water from the reservoir.
Siruvani Dam, located deep inside the reserve forest of the Kalladikodan Hill and Muthikulam Hill in Palakkad district of Kerala, is one of the major sources of drinking water for Coimbatore.
All eyes are on Siruvani Dam, which is nearing its full capacity, as the Kerala government has not allowed the dam to reach its FRL (Full Reservoir Level) of 50 feet over the past 10 years.
