JHARKHAND police on Monday reviewed the overcrowding at railway stations in the state following at least five women fainting at Ranchi railway station on Sunday because of unprecedented overcrowding.
Dozens of passengers failed to board trains going towards UP and New Delhi as the station witnessed unmanageable numbers of people rushing to the Maha Kumbh. Eyewitnesses said 12817 Jharkhand Swarna Jayanti Express was already jam-packed when it reached Ranchi station. The gates of the coaches were locked from inside. Travellers with tickets were seen pleading to allow them to enter, but in vain. The RPF jawans tried to enter but did not succeed. Over 60 passenger
