CWRC Satisfied With Cauvery Flow So Far, But Warns Of Weaker August Inflow

The Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) has expressed satisfaction with water releases from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu's Mettur Dam in the first half of the southwest monsoon, while cautioning that inflows declined in August due to weaker rainfall.
At its 120th meeting on Monday, the CWRC noted Karnataka had released 162 tmc ft at the interstate point Biligundlu between June 1 and August 11—well above the requirement for the entire monsoon season. Puducherry, too, received 3 tmc ft against its stipulated 1.3 tmc ft.
