WITH weather becoming warmer due to climate change and cost of production increasing, apple growers in Himachal Pradesh now prefer to grow stone fruits. Himachal is the second largest producer of apples after Jammu and Kashmir. Farmers and horticulture officials say the net profit in apple cultivation has reduced to below 50% of the total sale.
