US President Donald Trump has yet again claimed that India will no longer purchase oil from Russia, during a media interaction after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on Friday.
Trump's remarks come as he continues to push for an end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict through a mix of diplomacy, economic pressure, and territorial concessions.
"India will not be buying oil from Russia. They have already deescalated," Trump said during the joint appearance with Zelenskyy. He reiterated the claim during a bilateral lunch and added that Hungarian oil imports from Russia were understandable due to the country's landlocked geography.
