1 Held After J'khand Woman Stripped, Thrashed Over Suspicion of Witchcraft

IN a horrific incident that has once again exposed the grim influence of superstition in society, an elderly woman was stripped, cut with blades on several parts of her body, and mercilessly thrashed by a group of people for practicing witchcraft in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh.
After the torture, the woman was allegedly taken to Pretshila in Gaya where her head was tonsured.
The incident took place at Jabariya village under Barhi police station in Hazaribagh late on the evening of July 18.
The victim mustered courage and filed a complaint in this regard at Barhi police station late on Sunday. After the matter came into light, the police have arrested one person in connection with the incident.
