VICE-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday said Uniform Civil Code will be a measure of justice to women.

- RAJESH KUMAR THAKUR

UCC a measure of justice for women: V-P

"UCC is a constitutional ordainment. It is in the Directive Principles (of the Constitution). Supreme Court has held that it's being delayed. Look around what it means. It will help in several ways, but majorly will be a measure of justice for women," Dhankhar said, speaking at the Bharati College here on the theme 'Role of Women in Viksit Bharat'.

Describing the alleged rape and murder of a doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital as a "painful" incident, he called for a deterrent ecosystem to punish the perpetrators for such crimes.

The Vice President urged people to echo President Droupadi Murmu's clarion call of "enough is enough" on crimes against women.
