Schools, colleges shut in parts of TN after heavy rainfall

SCHOOLS and colleges in Tirunelveli and Tenkasi districts declared a holiday on Monday after heavy rain lashed the areas on Sunday, resulting in inundation. Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, and Kanniyakumari are among the several southern districts in the state that were alerted of extremely heavy rainfall.
According to a report from the Tirunelveli disaster management department, the Naalumukku of Manjolai Hills recorded 19cm rainfall as of 8.30 am on Sunday. The rain intensified as the day advanced, with the district recording an average rainfall of 25 cm between 8.30 am and 6.30 pm.
