THE new Sebi chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey, who was pulled out of North Block on Thursday to head the market regulatory body, has a tough task ahead. The top-most task will be restoring confidence of investors both institutional and retail as the markets are bleeding and have lost 18% as of Friday from the peaks of September; restoring sanctity and impartiality of the corner office, and bringing back morale of staff dented during his predecessor Madhavi Puri Buch, accused of bringing in "a toxic work culture" to the Sebi Bhawan.
