Rahul livid as Gujarat BJP chief takes a dig at Cong MP

GUJARAT BJP chief Jagdish Vishwakarma’s remarks targeting Congress MP Geniben Thakor have triggered a sharp counterattack and intervention by Leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi.

After winning Congress stronghold Banaskantha in local body polls, BJP leaders gathered for a show of strength. Vishwakarma’s remark in the gathering ignited a firestorm. In his address, Vishwakarma took direct aim at Geniben Thakor and Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani, declaring that the BJP had “snatched seats from the folds of Geniben’s saree pallu”, aremark that triggered outrage and backlash.

He doubled down by invoking the debate around the women’s reservation Act, arguing that Congress had angered women voters and that those voters now “taught a lesson” through the ballot.
