Palaniswami Meets Shah in Delhi; AIADMK-BJP Poll Patch-Up Likely

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and senior leaders of the party met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday, indicating possible revival of the alliance between the AIADMK and the BJP for the 2026 Assembly elections. The meeting lasted for around one hour.

The leaders of the parties have met after a gap of nearly two years. On September 14, 2023, Palaniswami called on Amit Shah in New Delhi, ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Within a fortnight, the AIADMK snapped its ties with the BJP ending the uneasy relationship between the two parties that prolonged for seven years due to various political compulsions.
