Over 72% of rural Andhra Pradesh gets tap water

SIGNIFICANT progress has been made in achieving tap water coverage in rural areas under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Andhra Pradesh.

A total of 69,37,136 households in rural areas have working tap water connections, representing 72.61% coverage.

The remaining target to be achieved stands at 26,16,372 households, accounting for 27.39% of the total target.Since the start of this mission, 38,62,826 (59.62%) of households have been provided with tap water connections.

Comparatively, when the Jal Jeevan Mission was initiated in 2019, the state had a coverage of 30,74,310 rural households, constituting 32.18%, with a remaining target of 64,37,136 households (67.82%).

In Andhra Pradesh, out of the total 95,53,908 rural households, 69,37,136 now have tap water supply, achieving a coverage of 72.61%.

The Jal Jeevan Mission-Har Ghar Jal, launched by the Government of India in 2019, is a significant step towards addressing the critical issue of water scarcity in rural areas.
