CM and Dy CM meet over breakfast in Bengaluru signalling a temporary truce amid ongoing leadership tussle
CHIEF Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar projected a united front on Saturday after a breakfast meeting at the CM’s official residence, ‘Cauvery’, signalling a temporary truce in the growing power-sharing dispute.
The tussle had intensified after both leaders took to X with cryptic posts referring to the “word” reportedly given to the high command—Shivakumar insisting Siddaramaiah honour the transfer promise, and Siddaramaiah countering that he had already kept his word by fulfilling promises made to the people. The Congress high command, taking serious note of the escalating standoff, had instructed the duo to resolve the matter amicably over the breakfast meeting.
Addressing the media afterwards, Siddaramaiah, seated alongside Shivakumar, refused to give a direct answer on the existence or terms of any 2023 power-transfer pact. “Whatever decision the high command takes, we will abide by it. Have you understood?” he retorted. Shivakumar responded with a quiet smile.
