Last chance to pay salaries, pension to MCD staff: HC
The Morning Standard
|February 10, 2024
The Delhi High Court on Friday came down heavily on the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) over the non-payment of salaries and pensions to employees and former employees, asking the civc body to put the "house in order" or it may "need to be winded up."

A division bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Manmohan said the matter is pending for over four years and questioned why the MCD cannot even provide the basic payment to its staff.
The court was hearing a batch of pleas relating to the non-payment of salaries and pensions to MCD employees and retired staff, respectively.
"We are giving you the last opportunity... fix your house.
Put it in order. Otherwise, we will say this is a fit case where municipalities need to be winded up," the bench said.
