In poll-bound Haryana, all parties trying to cash in on wrestler Phogat

INVITATION for party membership, appeal for Rajya Sabha seat and honour similar to Olympian Silver medalists-all parties in Haryana are trying their best to cash in on the achievement of Vinesh Phogat, the first woman wrestler to reach the Olympic final but was disqualified hours earlier after weighing 100 grams more than allowed.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that his government will felicitate wrestler Vinesh Phogat like a medallist and offer him the same reward that the state government offers to Olympic Games silver medallists.

"Our government has decided that Vinesh Phogat will be welcomed and felicitated like a medallist. All the respect, reward and facilities that the Haryana government offers an Olympic silver medallist will be offered to Vinesh Phogat as well," Saini said in a post on X.
