IIP growth at 9-month low of 1.2% in May

Fall is due to poor performance of manufacturing, mining, and power sectors caused by early onset of monsoon

The country's industrial production growth slowed to a nine-month low of 1.2% in May 2025 on the back of poor performance of manufacturing, mining, and power sectors caused by the early onset of monsoon, according to the official data released on Monday.

In the same month the previous year, factory output, measured in terms of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), had expanded by 6.3%, the data from the National Statistics Office showed. The industrial production growth was also revised downward for April to 2.6% from the earlier estimate of 2.7% released last month.
