Edu loans up via e-vouchers, UGC budget cut

UNION Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an allocation of 1.20 lakh crore for education in the Union Budget for 2024-25.
The salient point of the proposals is that loans up to Rs 10 lakh for higher education in domestic institutions will be facilitated through e-vouchers, directly benefiting one lakh students Rannually with an interest subvention of 3%.
The Budget introduced significant financial support for higher education loans while imposing a substantial cut on the University Grants Commission (UGC) budget by over 60%.
