Don't squabble over security breach: PM

FOUR days after a breach in Parliament security, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the "seriousness" of the incident during the ongoing winter session should not be "underestimated." He said that no one should squabble over the issue, which is being investigated by competent agencies.

In an interview with a Hindi daily, Modi said the Lok Sabha Speaker is taking necessary steps and that it was important to unravel the intentions behind it. "It is equally important to go in-depth as to who these elements are. Solutions should be found with one mind," he said, stressing that everyone should avoid debate over such topics.

The PM's remarks came amid the Opposition's demand for a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah and a debate on the incident. As many as 14 Opposition MPs have been suspended from both Houses when they trooped into the well of Houses demanding a statement from the home minister.

Jansen is going to be elite all-rounder: Kallis

ON Sunday night, Marco Jansen almost took South Africa across the line against India, smashing a 39-ball 70 in the chase of 350. His knock comes after a stellar show in the Test series where India were handed a 0-2 defeat by South Africa for the first time in 25 years. For someone who was a net bowler when Virat Kohli’s Test team visited South Africa in 2018, Jansen has made a meteoric rise as an all-rounder this year.
