DONALD Trump was elected the 47th president of the United States on Wednesday, an extraordinary comeback for a former president who refused to accept defeat four years ago, sparked a violent insurrection at the US Capitol, was convicted of felony charges and survived two assassination attempts.

  • TRUMP BEATS A FEMALE RIVAL FOR 2nd TIME

  • OUTPERFORMS HARRIS IN MANY STATES COMPARED TO 2020

  • SECOND IN OVER 130 YEARS TO WREST PRESIDENCY AFTER A FOUR-YEAR GAP

With a win in Wisconsin, Trump cleared the 270 electoral votes needed to clinch the presidency. The victory validates his bare-knuckle approach to politics. He attacked his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, in deeply personal—often misogynistic and racist—terms as he pushed an apocalyptic picture of a country overrun by violent migrants. The rhetoric, paired with an image of hypermasculinity, resonated with angry voters—particularly men—in a deeply polarized nation.

"I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president," Trump told cheering supporters in Florida.

Trump's win after a gap of four years is also spectacular in the sense that only one other American president has secured two non-consecutive terms. Grover Cleveland, the 22nd and 24th president, served as the US president between 1885-1889 and 1893-1897.
