Charges framed against Lalu for running Railways as ‘personal fiefdom’
The Morning Standard
|January 10, 2026
A Delhi court on Friday ordered framing of charges against RJD chief and former railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife and former CM Rabri Devi, and their son and former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav in the alleged land-for-jobs scam.
Special Judge Vishal Gogne said the material on record “prima facie” showed that Lalu Yadav treated the railway ministry as his “personal fiefdom” and ran a criminal enterprise.
The court said public jobs were allegedly used as a bargaining tool to acquire land for the Yadav family, with the help of railway officials and close aides.
