Army saves jawan stuck in communal clashes, forms helpline for others

THE Indian Army has established a soldiers' helpline and dispatched a Quick Reaction Team (QRT) in Murshidabad following an SOS call from a soldier in the West Bengal town which has witnessed violence over the Waqf legislation.

Army saves jawan stuck in communal clashes, forms helpline for others

Sources in the Army said, "A serving soldier who was at his native residence in Murshidabad made an urgent call to the nearby military establishment as protestors had surrounded his house."

They said the prompt action "was taken with assistance of the local Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, and the Army soldier's house was saved from getting looted."
