Ahead of election, Nitish tweaks job quota for women

Restricts 35% reservation for women in govt employment to only those who hail from Bihar
WITH Bihar assembly elections less than four months away, the Nitish Kumar government on Tuesday restricted the 35% quota in place for women in all government jobs since 2016, to only those who hail from the state.
The decision was seen as an attempt by Nitish to further consolidate his already strong female vote-bank.
A final call to enforce the domicile criteria was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
