DESPITE controversy around handing the Dharavi slum redevelopment project to the Adani Group, the Maharashtra government has given its final go-ahead to the group to start the redevelopment work.

Adani gets nod for Dharavi redevelopment

The Dharavi slum redevelopment project is spread across 600 acres, and will cost about ₹5,000 crore. Nearly 9 lakh people stay in Dharavi slums of Mumbai, an Adani Group executive told this newspaper.

Adani Properties had won the bid for redeveloping the slum last November after the state government had invited expression of interest (EoI) in October 2022.
