Why we need competent leaders in local government

THIS country is run by very mediocre people. The Government of National Unity is a disaster. Dennis Pather, a seasoned editor, has reiterated what I have mentioned in my many letters. I agree with him when he questions President Cyril Ramaphosa as to why he chose misfits, scoundrels and nincompoops to serve in his national cabinet.

Surely, he knows the background of the useless ministers and deputy ministers he appointed. Many of them are guilty of plundering state resources and placing a heavy burden on the taxpayers. They should be thrown out of government. They cannot be entrusted to utilize our money for the benefit of the citizens of the country.

The minister in the national government and the MEC in the KZN legislature who are in charge of cooperative governance are from the IFP.
