Sundowns are the strongest warriors - Cardoso

MAMELODI Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso believes his team is ready to meet the challenge posed by Egyptian newcomers Pyramids FC in the CAF Champions League final, describing his players as “the strongest warriors” destined for greatness on the African stage.

Cardoso acknowledged the immense step up in competition between the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and the Champions League, stressing the magnitude of the upcoming clash.

“With respect to the Premiership, this is another level we're going to face. We have a very tough challenge ahead with this Champions League final,” he said.

Despite the scale of the task, Cardoso’s belief in his squad was evident.

“We are also tough people,” he said.

“And I would say that God gives the strongest fights to His strongest warriors.

“That's what we need to be - warriors, but most of all, high-quality football players.”

Following Sundowns’ final Betway Premiership match at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday, Cardoso reflected on the team’s performance and the unique qualities within the current squad.
