Thanks for our 'little miracle'

Meadow and parents Chris and Danielle are re-united with the ambulance crew and nurse

Little Meadow McGready was born on July 18 - six weeks early and weighing 5lbs 12oz. She had needed treatment straight after her birth by caesarean section - and hadn't even met her mum Danielle yet.

She needed to be transferred from Sunderland Royal Hospital to the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital at Cramlington.

This kind of transfer is, the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) said, among their crews’ most complex work. The crew of clinical care assistant Alexandra Summers and ambulance support practitioner Leanne Dean were accompanied by specialist nurse Katie Kilby, of the Northern Neonatal Network and based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

The trio were reunited with baby Meadow - now 12 weeks old and thriving - and parents Chris and Danielle last week.
