Target Smit sets sights on Alkmaar exit
The Journal
|December 29, 2025
NEWCASTLE United transfer target Kees Smit has spoken out about the potential for a January switch as the Magpies weigh up making a move for the midfielder when the window opens.
-
Newcastle are keeping tabs on the 19-year-old and could make a January transfer move to steal a march on their rivals.
The hunt for new players in the new year has been complicated by the injury crisis that has rocked Eddie Howe's defence in recent weeks, with the recruitment team now looking at whether they need to bring in another centre-half or fullback during the window.
Smit, however, remains firmly on their radar. The Dutch youth international has broken into the AZ Alkmaar side this month and has made 26 appearances already this season for the club.
