Special visitor for People's Kitchen 40th anniversary

THE People's Kitchen has marked its 40th anniversary with a visit from its original founder's daughter, as she made her return to the Newcastle charity.
> The People's Kitchen
The milestone was celebrated in the city centre on Saturday with a special meal to thank businesses, sponsors and volunteers for their support.
As part of the yearlong celebrations, guest of honour Allie Goddard, daughter of founder Alison Kay, travelled up from her home in the West Midlands to attend, and she was joined by her son Richard and 16-year-old grandson Charlie at the event.
The format was exactly the same as it is for the charity's 'friends' - a hearty three-course meal of homemade soup, lamb hotpot or vegetarian curry, and apple crumble, prepared by the volunteers, with sponsor Womble Bond Dickinson paying for the food served on the night.
