School solar panels 'did not explode' - councillor

A LEADING councillor has said that investigations are ongoing into the cause of a fire at a Northumberland primary school involving solar panels, but any wider issues are unlikely.

Shanklea Primary School in Cramlington has been closed all week so far.

Nobody was injured and the damage is not as significant as first feared. The school is closed until at least today while remedial works and health and safety checks are carried out.
