RNLI rescues swimmer

THE Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat crew had a busy bank holiday featuring four callouts over the weekend.

This included saving a swimmer in difficulty off King Edward’s Bay and rescuing a stricken boat causing a hazard in the Tyne.
The first callout came on Saturday afternoon - with the RNLI’s inshore life boat called out at 4.59pm to assist a broken down boat in the middle of the Tyne.
The RNLI said the boat had been “creating a hazard to shipping”. With the support of the police, the boat was towed back to the Royal Quays Marina.
