Residents need to approve plan for grass verges

CHANGES to North Tyneside’s grass verges need support from the majority, a council has recommended.

It comes following a council task group examining the issue of grass verges and parking in the borough.

‘The task group convened in March to look at, among a number of considerations, the impact of converting grass verges to improve parking and prevent damage to council assets.

While the task force concluded it was feasible to make verges car-friendly, including the use of plastic and concrete designs that retain some grass, such remedies are likely to only be suitable in locations where parking happens less.
